WORKSHOP! W.I.S.E. UP! for Parents and Children

Most adopted children are asked questions about being adopted; yet few are equipped to respond. For some, it begins as early as age 3: Why don’t you look like your mom? For others, not until age 6 or 7: Why were you adopted? Where is your real mother? Empowering your children with the W.I.S.E. Up! program helps them handle the comments and questions of others AND teaches them that they can decide if, when, and how to share their adoption story. Workshops for children will be divided based on grade: 1st-3rd and 4th-6th. A parent workshop that teaches adults how to continue practicing at home will run concurrently with the children’s workshops. Includes one W.I.S.E. UP! Powerbook. Pre-registration required.

When: Saturday, May 5, 2012
10:00 a.m. – noon

This webinar by Adam Pertman, Executive Director of Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute will examine this extraordinary period in adoption’s history, discuss the impact of the transformations, and address the ethical and practical issues being raised.
